Built for control
LassoCrop combines precise manual selection with optional AI assistance in one lasso crop tool. Choose the method that best fits your subject, refine the result, and keep control of what appears in the final cutout.
Selection guide
Rectangle is the fastest option for screenshots, labels, cards, documents, product boxes, and other subjects with straight horizontal or vertical edges. Drag across the image to create a selection, then use the corner handles to resize it. Choose this mode when the content you need fits cleanly inside a four-sided area and you want a quick, predictable result.
Polygon is designed for subjects with defined corners or a mixture of straight edges. Place points around products, signs, buildings, packages, or geometric artwork, then close the path to complete the selection. Individual points can be repositioned for greater precision. Polygon Angle Snap can also help you create controlled 45-degree lines when a cleaner geometric edge is useful.
Freehand works well for curved outlines, organic objects, and irregular shapes that cannot be followed accurately with a rectangle or a series of straight polygon lines. Draw directly around the area you want to keep at a comfortable zoom level. If the path does not look right, use undo or redraw and make another pass instead of accepting an inaccurate outline.
AI-assisted selection is useful when an image has a clear subject and you want it detected automatically. Run it without a manual selection to process the full image, or complete a Rectangle, Polygon, or Freehand selection first to focus processing on a specific area. Review the generated cutout before downloading, because automatic results can vary with the image.
Practical uses
Isolate a product for an online store, marketplace listing, catalog, or promotional graphic. A transparent cutout can be placed on a new background color, combined with pricing and text, reused across campaign layouts, or prepared for a cleaner product comparison without carrying the original scene into every design.
Keep a person, pet, plant, vehicle, or other subject while making the surrounding area transparent. Use the result in a presentation, profile graphic, collage, thumbnail, invitation, classroom project, or creative composition where the original background would distract from the subject you want viewers to notice.
Extract a logo, icon, illustration, badge, or piece of artwork for use in a website mockup, social post, slide deck, or design project. A controlled lasso crop helps when the asset sits inside a larger image and you need only one useful element rather than the entire rectangular canvas.
Select a specific panel, card, chart, interface element, map area, or irregular section from a screenshot. Keep the information that supports your explanation and remove unrelated interface chrome or empty space, producing a more focused visual for documentation, feedback, tutorials, and presentations.
Choose your approach
Both approaches can be useful. The right choice depends on whether speed, exact boundaries, or control over a custom shape matters most for the image in front of you.
Manual selection is suitable when you need to keep a specific area, choose between several possible subjects, follow a custom outline, or preserve content that an automatic tool might not identify as the main subject. Rectangle, Polygon, and Freehand let you decide where the boundary belongs. A manual lasso crop tool is also helpful when the desired result is a shape rather than a naturally separated foreground object.
Automatic subject detection is useful when an image has one clear subject and you want a faster cutout. LassoCrop supports this option without removing the manual workflow. Process the full image, or create a completed selection first and focus AI processing on that area. This combination lets you start quickly while still choosing how much of the image is sent for processing and what should remain in the final result.

Privacy by default
Manual selection and standard PNG export happen in your browser. Your image is only sent to an external AI image service when you choose AI-assisted selection. You can use all manual selection tools without sending the image to our server for processing.

Read the privacy details →Yes. LassoCrop is a free online lasso crop tool with no sign-up required. Manual selection and transparent PNG export are free and have no watermark. AI-assisted selection has a limited number of free uses each day.
Yes. Use Polygon for subjects with defined corners or Freehand for curved and irregular shapes. Everything outside the completed selection becomes transparent in the exported PNG.
AI-assisted selection can process the full image when no area is marked. You can also complete a Rectangle, Polygon, or Freehand selection first to focus processing on that area. Review the generated result before downloading it.
You can upload JPG, PNG, and WebP images up to 5 MB and export the result as a transparent PNG.
Yes. You can zoom, pan, undo, or redraw before downloading. Rectangle handles let you resize the selected area, while Polygon points can be repositioned for more precise edges.
A background remover usually detects a subject automatically and removes everything around it. A lasso crop tool lets you define exactly what you want to keep with manual selection. LassoCrop supports both precise manual tools and optional AI assistance, so you can choose control or speed for each image.
Manual cutouts are exported as transparent PNG files using the dimensions of the selected source area. PNG avoids the additional compression artifacts associated with JPEG export. AI-assisted results depend on the image returned by the AI service, so review the result before downloading it.
